Update
Firstly, thank you to everyone who has contributed to this fundraiser, it will really do wonders for the dodgeball club.Unfortunately, the freshers championships have not been able to go ahead as of yet. Since COVID-19 has disrupted the British Dodgeball calendar so much, British Dodgeball have proposed the potential for Universities to host championships/ opens in term 2.This is something we are looking at doing in place of the previously arranged plans. If we are hosting other universities at our Sports Hall or Sports Arena, there would not be any travel costs and we can use these funds to book the venue instead. This will still allow us to achieve the main goal of the project which is to provide freshers and new players the opportunity to play against other universities. The University South East Open will to cost us £122.50 (for 7 hours) to book the venue from Essex Sport and the Freshers Championships is likely to costs £87.50 (for 5 hours). We would enter 2 mixed freshers teams into the freshers championships and 2 teams into the University south open (1 men's and 1 women's).As the majority of our women's team are beginners, we will use any remaining funds from this fundraiser to subsidise their competition fees so they can continue to play, without cost being as much of a barrier to participation.
Thanks again and stay safe everyone!:))
