Click helps members of our community to find the funding they need to explore their interests and enhance our community through creative and innovative projects.

It also encourages students to make an impact in the lives of their fellow students, the University, the wider community and around the world. Click allows friends of the University to get involved and support great causes and smart ideas put forward from our community.

If you support a project, you will automatically receive updates about it. You can also interact directly with the team behind the project by leaving a comment on the project, or sending them a message.

What is Click?

Click is the University of Essex crowdfunding platform. Crowdfunding is funding a project or venture by raising lots of small amounts of money from a large number of people, typically via the internet.

Donation-based crowdfunding is asking a group to donate to your project in exchange for tangible, non-monetary ‘rewards’ such as an e-card, t-shirt, tickets to your show or a behind the scenes tour.

Crowdfunding can be fast, efficient, and effective if done right. The more creativity and fun you have, the more likely it is you’ll get funded.

What kind of projects are suitable for Click?

Crowdfunding is not limited to a certain kind of project. There is no discrimination – only great ideas!

Projects can be about anything – but they should focus on the benefit they will provide to students, the University, alumni or the wider community. Projects will be judged on their goals, their creative or innovative merits, and the level of organisation demonstrated by you and your team.

All-or-Nothing Funding?

Every project must achieve its minimum needed by its completion date or no funds change hands. Why? Part of the appeal of crowdfunding is that sponsors get to engage with projects and see where their money is going. This keeps everyone happy!
