Societies in Southend are still in the development stage, we have seen societies engagement increase by 100% between the 2013/14 and 2014/15 academic years, we have also started the year with twice as many societies. We would like Societies in Southend to continue to grow but struggle with the promotion of new Societies and informing students on how to set up Societies. We believe that having a camera to take photos of events, meetings and society members etc. will help promote the current Societies we have at Southend and also encourage students to start Societies of their own through social media, posters and on our website . Obtaining a camera will also create new roles within societies and also for the student's union; which falls in line with one of the promises to provide students with jobs.

The fact that we are a small campus and do not have a Marketing department based here means we do not have  access to a camera, and the execs and societies feel restricted particularly because they do not have the opportunity to showcase their work. therefore providing societies with a camera will help them meet their individual aims and objectives.

If we reach our target the camera which we would like to purchase is - canon eos 1200d dslr camera with 18-55 mm telephoto zoom and lens. If we surpass our target we will be able to purchase further needed items such as insurance, memory cards, lenses and more.
