Help us make our way to our local league games!!

Korfball need you help to GET TO OUR LOCAL LEAGUE GAMES

The Essex Blades Korfball Club is looking to raise money to help support the club and make sure the club maintains its presence in the Norfolk Korfball league. We want to raise £500 to help subsidise regular travel to Norwich, which currently costs around £200 for two teams to get to Norwich. Our money won't just go to this - we are also looking to send one of our members on a level 2 coaching course, contributing around £200 from Click towards this. This will allow us to offer future members a consistently high standard of coaching. This money will be helping our current members get as much as they can from the club, but also help the future of the club.

What is Korfball?

Korfball is a unique dutch sport which has grown rapidly in the UK in the last 50 years. The sport is similar to basketball, netball and handball, but with a unique defending rule which makes the sport equal as height is irrelevant.

Teams consist of eight players, four male and four female; two of each gender in each section. The court consists of two large squares joined along the centre line and in each square there is a 'Korf'. Korfball is the sport of the future, based on cooperation and gender equality.

Players can only be marked by an opposing player of the same gender, with all actively participating in attack and in defence. Once the section starts the game in attack, the other in defence, but players swap roles after every two goals.

Korfball = Friendship, Teamwork and Equality!

our story

Essex Blades Korfball Club was established 6 years ago in 2013. Since then we have progressed from just one team to two teams in our local league, with our first team advancing into the 2nd tier league, competing strongly within that league. Our BUCS team have progressed to the Trophy competition of the BUCS season successfully for the last 5 years!

Being in our 6th year existing as a club, we want to keep and grow the strong position our club is in. The club's potential to reach new heights this year, for the first time in the club's history we finished at 1st place in our BUCS prelims, and we have played competitively in our local league games.

Our potential can only continue to improve with continued presence in the Norfolk League, which gives our members a far better experience than any training session could. With your help we can make our club stronger than ever!  This club is helping its members be more active and get more involved in a community, and with your help we can do much more!

wHY ARE WE RAISING MONEY?

The team are raising money to keep the club thriving and growing.

Where Will the Money Go?

The entry into our local league is expensive, on top of this we regularly need to travel to Norwich where all our games are held. The club are set on making sure anyone can play, and have a focus on keeping the cost of playing as cheap as possible. Much of this money will go into subsidising the club's travel to Norwich as to support its members. ( approx. £500 ) Although the main focus of this project will help us get to the local league, your money will also help us in many other ways with general club expenses that assist in the improvement of the club as a whole. We would like to send a member of our club to take a level 2 coaching course. This will be a great advantage to the club, and greatly help our future progress. With the money left, the club will get new equipment such as new korfball posts (around £100) that will allow us to do more with our training sessions, and make sure our members can get as much as they can out of the sport.

What WE HAVE DONE SO FAR

So far this year we have also been collecting donations from members from their travel to Norwich. New players have also donated the money spent on official kit shirts. Alongside this, we are planning on holding a Krispy Kreme doughnut sale on campus to support this Click fund.
