hELP kORFBALL gROW!
The Essex Blades Korfball Club is looking to raise money to help support the club and make sure we have the money to continue to grow and offer a great experience for new and existing members. We want to raise £500 to help subsidies travel to Norwich where we play competitively. We are also looking to send one of our members on a level 2 coaching course in order to offer future members a consistently high standard of coaching. This money will be helping our current members get as much as they can from the club, but also help the future of the club.
WHat is Korfball?
Korfball is a unique dutch sport which has grown rapidly in the UK in the last 50 years. . The sport is similar to basketball, netball and handball, but with a unique defending rule which makes the sport equal as height is irrelevant.
Teams consist of eight players, four male and four female; two of each gender in each section. The court consists of two large squares joined along the centre line and in each square there is a 'Korf'. Korfball is the sport of the future, based on cooperation and gender equality.
Players can only be marked by an opposing player of the same gender, with all actively participating in attack and in defense. Once the section starts the game in attack, the other in defense, but players swap roles after every two goals.
Korfball= Friendship, Teamwork and Equality!
Essex Blades Korfball Club was established 6 years ago in 2013. Since then we have progressed from just one team to two teams in our local league, with our first team advancing into the 2nd tier league and are competing strongly within that league. Our BUCS team have progressed to the Trophy competition of the BUCS season successfully for the last 4 years!
Being in our 6th year existing as a club, we want to keep and grow the strong position our club is in. The club's potential to reach new heights the year, for the first time in the clubs history we finished at 3rd place in our BUCS prelims, and we have played competitively in our local league games.
It is this level of potential which exists within Essex Blades Korfball and is a potential we would loved you to contribute to and help us as a club grow!
This club is helping its members be more active and get more involved in a community, and with your help we can do much more!
wHY ARE WE RAISING MONEY?
The team are raising money to keep the club alive, and help the club continue to grow.
Where will the money Go?
- The entry into our local league is expensive, on top of this we regularly need to travel to Norwich where all our games are held. The club are set on making sure anyone can play, and have a focus on keeping the cost of playing as cheap as possible. Much of this money will go into subsidizing the clubs travel to Norwich as too support its members. ( approx. £500 )
- We would like to send a member of our club to take a level 2 coaching course. This will be a great advantage to the club, and greatly help our future progress. (approx. £150 each session)
- To helping and supporting our external coach.
- With the money left, the club will get new equipment that will allow us to do more with our training sessions, and make sure our members can get as much as they can out of the sport.
What WE HAVE DONE SO FAR
So far we have held a Krispy Kreme sale where we raised loads that will go into the project, to help us reach our target. So far this year we have also been collecting donations from members from their travel to Norwich and playing shirts. We have arranged a Christmas Quiz on the 6th of December, where anyone can come along and win some great prizes!! The club also have are in the works for a future Krispy Kreme sale.
