Overview

We are aiming to raise £350 to fund the props, set, costume and marketing for Zarbopulon 5, a feature length play that comically chronicles the struggles of working in amateur theatre. This show will kickstart the comedy theatre troupe The Fool's Flock, as well as giving students from the University of Essex the opportunity to perform on the Lakeside Theatre stage.

Cast and Crew

The show is being produced by Andreas Davies, a current student at the University of Essex as well as The Fool's Flock Theatre troupe, a comedy theatre troupe made up primarily of Essex alumni and Peter Vetere another Essex alumni is writer and director of the show.

The cast and crew of the show is made up of University of Essex students and alumni.

About us!

Zarbopulon 5 is about the struggles of working in the creative industry, showing a group of amateur performers and creatives in their desperation to finally get somewhere in their creative careers. 

Everyone involved in this project is hoping to, at some point in their careers, find a place in the creative industry. For those who are still studying at the University of Essex this project is a great way for them to venture outside of their course and to be a part of a professional project. For the Essex alumni who are performing in the show we have all learnt, very quickly, how rare it is to be involved in a project such as this. Being able to follow our passions of performing on stage is something that we haven’t found much luck in after leaving university, with all of us having to find jobs outside our field of study. If you were to help this project you will also be helping the whole cast and crew in taking their first step to finding work in the creative industry that they have spent years studying to break into.

Where will the money go?

• If we hit our minimum goal of £350 this will go to marketing the show, ordering flyers and posters to ensure that we have a sizeable audience watching the performance. This money will also allow for us to purchase the props and costumes needed for the show, allowing us to venture further than the local charity shops to source the costumes we originally designed for each of the performance’s main characters. On top of all this, the play is almost entirely set in the wings of a theatre. Our funds will also be put into transforming the Lakeside Theatre’s stage to look like the backstage area of the wings. 

• If we hit our full target of £400 this will give us more leeway to spend money on items like programmes and increase the spend on costumes, set and props, increasing the overall production value of the show.

• Any extra funds will be placed into funding for the cast’s travel expenses as well as going into future performances and projects produced by the Fool’s Flock theatre troupe.
