International Tennis Tournament held in Moscow, Russia

what is this Tennis Tournament?

The University of Essex has been invited to take part in the 4th edition of the PCU International University Tennis Tournament which is held in Moscow, Russia. The tournament runs from the 18th to the 20th of October 2019. The tournament promotes fair play and universal friendship. This is a great opportunity for us to represent the best of  our university (University of Essex) abroad. The first day of the tournament consists of a round robin, 1 Male (Zayn) & 1 Female (Amore), whom are both from the University of Essex. Then playoffs are held the following day.

Who's going?

The University of Essex has chosen AMORE & ZAYN to represent them this year.

So who are we?

"Hello my name is Amore Castelyn and I study at the University of Essex. Last year I competed in the 3rd edition of the tournament which was held in Dubna (Just outside of Moscow) and came 2nd. I hope this year to improve, but also to experience this year's event at an even bigger venue in Moscow. As a sports fanatic, I love new experiences and I've been told by my friends that I'm very motivated about sport. I can't wait for the trip to Moscow and representing the University of Essex again. I see this trip as a great opportunity and start my tennis career that I hope one day will be a reality. I cannot wait to interact with the other players (Hopefully some familiar faces from last year's tournament) and gain more experience of having a ball boy/girl and an umpire on the court. When it comes to tennis, I have a great passion for the sport and see myself as a fun and an enthusiastic. This trip is going to be one amazing experience where we can make new friends and memories with the team and just overall have a great tournament."

"Hello! My name is Zayn and I’m currently on a placement year in London. This past year, I’ve dedicated a lot of time to tennis, taking on the roles of Vice President and Men’s captain (2nds)- it was a hugely successful year, where tennis won ‘club of the year’ at the University.  To have the opportunity to represent my university in an international tennis tournament is a great honour, and the chance to visit Moscow is something I’m really looking forward to! The PIUTT is a very prestigious event, bringing universities from around the world together to compete with an emphasis on fair-play and universal friendship. I’m excited to further my tennis experience by competing and building relationships with players from many different countries in a great event, and hopefully I don’t come last!"
