A short summary of MY project
The European Universities Games 2018 ( https://www.eusa.eu/events/games/coimbra-2018 ) will be in Coimbra in July. This is an international multi-sport event which will host universities around the Europe to participate in a variety of competitions. This year it will take place in Coimbra (Portugal) and it will be the largest European university sports event of the year.
The organization of the event will have a large number of participants, as the European Universities Games 2018 in Coimbra, leads us to require a high number of people, on a voluntary basis, that after a careful selection and through specific training they will take part in EUG. In total, there will be around 1000 volunteers involved in the European Universities Games 2018 most of them from Portugal but they gave a chance to 150 international volunteers to contribute to the event too.
Who AM I?
Hello, my name is Izabela. I am a student living in Colchester, United Kingdom and I study at the University of Essex. I am in my second year and I study European Studies and Modern Languages. I am 21 years old and I am from a small town in Romania, called Saint George. I love learning languages and travelling the world. One of my passions is photography. I’m also interested in organizing events and listening to different genres of music.
My story
The reason why I have chosen to apply to be a volunteer in European Universities Games is because among the years I have volunteered in different events and I really enjoy volunteering. This time I have the opportunity to experience something even more exciting which is a very big international event involving many students from around the world.
As Spanish and Portuguese languages are part of my degree I see this as the opportunity to practice my linguistic skills that I have learnt at the university. Also this program would support my personal development as I will engage with people from different cultures. In addition, as a volunteer I will face challenges, trying to resolve any difficulties the athletes might have or making sure that everything goes right on schedule. The main skills I will develop are adapting to a new environment, working under pressure and organizing which I am sure will be useful for my future career.
Where will the money go?
- If I hit the minimum target the money will cover :
- lights ( £300) transfers (£100) medical insurance (£80) and food (£100)
Any additional money raised will be used towards covering additional personal expenses such as volunteering hoodie & equipment.
Rewards
I have some rewards to thank everyone who donates, whatever the amount you might give. Check them out on the right side of the page!
