Project Description:
The Southend Fringe Festival runs in the summertime as a theatre arts festival to bring together the Southend community. Each year we have had new and vibrant performances, and this year is no exception! Not only will the program contain theatre but also drag performances, spoken word, puppetry, dance and music. The aim is to showcase the brilliant talent of Southend over the course of four days, helping Southend appear on the map for its cultural diversity. As we grow, the local community have become more involved with the festival and as such, generating a network of creative potential in Southend.
About Us: The Southend Fringe sprung into life in 2016. Originally created and run by East 15 Acting School students, it has a loyal, young adult demographic. Fast-forward to 2019… Those graduates have grown up and work full-time in various industries in the arts sector. Using the experience and contacts they have attained they continue to host the festival alongside current students wanting to learn a thing or two about producing a festival. We all work tirelessly to keep this festival going and this is all done on a voluntary basis. We are a passionate group who, simply, want this to be a successful endeavour!
Why we need YOUR help: All profit we make as an organisation goes towards paying for producing the festival. Our festival operates on a voluntary basis, so it really does all go back into the Southend community.
We have established partnerships with key cultural organisations, in Southend, who believe in what we can offer to the cultural landscape and we hope that you will join them in being an ambassador for the Southend Fringe Festival 2019.
Businesses! We are partnering with C2C to help us gain attention from those travelling to and from Southend. This will encourage more tourism in the area and with that we hope extra income for local businesses.
If you would like to sponsor the Southend Fringe Festival and showcase your brand to our entire audience please contact pamela@southendfringefest.co.uk for a more bespoke offering to suit your needs.
Here is the exact breakdown what your donation will help us achieve :
£25 - A skills workshop host for our co-production companies
£50 - 100 posters
£80 - Insurance for the duration of the festival
£120 - A performance space
£150 - A theatre technician for performances
£240 - A technical rehearsal space
£1000 - An LGBTQIA+ safe space program to run alongside the festivals programming ( IF we reach our stretch goal of £1785!)
ALSO, if exceed our target we will use the money to run a mentorship/co-production programme for selected participating theatre companies. This will be a number of bespoke workshops that the participating companies will use to enhance a show they are working on and guidance on how to help their company grow and move forward.
We also gladly welcome smaller donations of £5, £10 and a custom donation of your choice as we completely understand that not everyone can afford larger donations but also, because every little helps!
We really appreciate all your support, be it financial, turning up to our fundraising events and sharing our posts to all your friends and family. We hope to see you at the Fringe 11-14th July 2019!
