I'm raising £700 to bring to life the awe-inspiring Seiryū project—a groundbreaking Sci-Fi Short Film that ventures into uncharted cinematic territory for most student films. Our mission? To unleash a visual and narrative masterpiece that transports audiences to a future where Japan's legacy hangs in the balance.With your support, we'll harness the power of virtual production technology, pushing the boundaries of filmmaking as we seamlessly blend the real and the unreal. Imagine witnessing the colossal Seiryū spaceship, a behemoth of engineering prowess, looming ominously on the silver screen. Your investment will enable us to equip our team with cutting-edge tools like Vive Mars Trackers, ensuring every frame resonates with unparalleled realism and immersion.
Who are you?
I'm Jakub Gontko, a passionate filmmaker hailing from Slovakia, where my love for storytelling first took root. With a background in VFX and professional virtual production, I've honed my craft to bring dreams to life on the silver screen. Notable among my recent projects is the Batiste commercial, where I created backgrounds in Unreal Engine for a production on a large volume. A year ago I created a multiple award winning short film in Japan.Helping me on this journey is Dom McCurrie, who is a talented Director of Photography (DOP) and is exploring how to light and film for virtual production on a professional level.We are also getting help from a season industry professional - DOP Ian Murray, who kindly offers his studio space, expertise and some of his equipment for us to use.
Where will the money go?
If we hit our minimum target, your funds will primarily cover essential costs for our production. This includes travel expenses for our talented cast and crew, ensuring they can bring Seiryū to life with their expertise.Should we reach our full target, we'll be able to expand our resources and enhance the overall quality of our production. This means investing in additional equipment to elevate the visual and technical aspects of Seiryū, such as higher quality props, better lenses, and advanced lighting setups. It will cover the rental costs for essential equipment like Vive Mars trackers, crucial for implementing our innovative virtual production techniques. Moreover, we'll have the opportunity to allocate more funds towards compensating our dedicated cast and crew for their invaluable contributions.And if our campaign surpasses expectations, the possibilities become even more exciting. Extra funds will enable us to further enhance the production value of Seiryū, potentially allowing us to secure additional talent, rent superior equipment, and even submit the finished film to prestigious festivals.
