International Tennis Tournament held in Rome, Italy
what is this Tennis Tournament?
The University of Essex has been invited to take part in the 7th edition of the PCU
International University Tennis Tournament which is held in Rome, Italy. The tournament runs from the 28th to the 31st of October 2022. The tournament promotes fair play and universal friendship. This is a great opportunity for us to represent the best of our university (University of Essex) abroad. The first day of the tournament consists of a round robin, 1 Male (Rittik) & 2 Females (Amore & Abby), who are from the University of Essex. Then playoffs are held the following day.
Who's going?
The University of Essex has chosen AMORE, Abby & Rittik to represent them this year.
So who are we?
"Hello my name is Amore Castelyn and I study at the University of Essex. I competed in the 3rd and 4th editions of the tournament which was held in Dubna and Moscow. I am excited to finally return to the tournament this year. As a sports fanatic, I love new experiences and I've been told by my friends that I'm very motivated by sport. I can't wait for the trip to Rome and to represent the University of Essex again. I see this trip as a great opportunity and a great way to improve my tennis. I cannot wait to interact with the other players (Hopefully some familiar faces from the preface tournament) and gain more experience of having a ball boy/girl and an umpire on the court. When it comes to tennis, I have a great passion for the sport and see myself as fun and enthusiastic. This trip is going to be one amazing experience where we can make new friends and memories with the team and just overall have a great tournament."
"Hello, my name is Abby Fung. I'm now studying at the University of Essex for my second year. Playing tennis has been my favourite thing to do since I was 8 and inspired me a lot while competing with the Hong Kong team. I have been to many places for tournaments in Asia and the UK but not Europe. Roma is a place that I wish to explore for a long time. I hope that I can gain memorable experience and try my best together with my teammates."
"Hi, I’m Rittik Anand and I’m a 3rd-year student studying finance at the University of Essex. I started tennis when I was 8 years old and it’s been my passion ever since. I have had the privilege of playing for GB for U12’s and U14’s boys' teams and went on to play ITF futures before suffering from injuries. It has been a rollercoaster of a journey so far. Now I’m injury free and have the opportunity to have this amazing experience where I can make international friends and compete in Italy!"
