A short summary of your project
The story of Origami, set in 1980s Britain, centres around Mildred, a bored and lonely office worker who is dealing with the recent loss of her mother, Rose. The piece explores what it means to deal with loneliness and how you can allow big life events like a loss to either crumple you or spur you on to make changes for the better.
Origami is a metaphor for the ability we all have to reshape our world, carefully fold by fold. Over the past few years, we as a society have gone through collective grief and have had more time than ever to assess whether our pre-pandemic lives are what we really want. Given these stressors, we believe Mildred’s journey and the messages in this piece could resonate strongly with people as we adjust to normal life again.
