We're raising £1000 to bring our play ONE MINUTE OF NOISE to the Buxton Fringe! This play delves into current issues that women face including femicide, dowry killings, domestic violence and manipulation. Our hope is to make thESE issues more known, especially in how diffused they are and how they affect every country and background in the world, to encourage change.
WHO ARE WE
I am Sara Bruni and with Hermione Swann I have founded the company. This is our debut show.
I'm the writer and director and Hermione the assistant director. Us and the whole cast study together at East 15, where this play was created for an internal theatre festival.
We're all female presenting and feel the theme exceptionally strongly. We have singers, musicians and dancers as part of the company and we will include these elements in the show!
OUR PURPOSE
We're bringing this play out into the world because we believe in its message. I, Sara, wrote it because I was deeply touched by femicide news stories growing and growing. I was also very upset about how they are told through the media: the women who lost their lives are dismissed quickly to talk about for how long and where their murder hid after the crime.
So, I gave them a voice, even after death. Inspired by Elena Cecchettin, the Italian sister of one of the recent victims we talk about in our play, that says to make noise instead of minutes of silence for her sister, I decided to make a whole hour and a half of noise about it. That's where the title of the play comes from.
WHAT WE WILL DO WITH DONATIONS
We will spend the money on set (£300), light (£200) and sound equipment (£100). Moreover, we will spend it to cover expenses for renting the room and transportation of equipment to the location (£400).
If we raise more money than our target, we will use it to bring the show to another fringe or elongate our run in the Buxton one.
We'll give weekly updates through our social media platforms, as we have already been doing on Instagram and Facebook. So you will always know how the project is going.
