Please Help Support my Mental Health Bali placement
Hi! My name is Olga and I am a second year Psychodynamic Practice student. I have over 6 years experience of working in the care industry, and I am striving to become a therapist in the future.
I was given an amazing opportunity to take part in a volunteering mental health project organised by Think Pacific, that will take place in Bali.
During the project I will have a chance to work with local organisations and professionals. As a part of the project, along with a team of other volunteers and local workers we will be designing and delivering activities in local communities that are meant to support good mental health and wellbeing. This project will not only help me develop personally and professionally but also allow me to make a change in lives of people who might be struggling with mental health.
By going to Bali I would be able to learn about the local culture and explore how it might influence approaches to mental health. I believe that it is important not to impose my worldview on others, but to use every opportunity I can to learn something new.
Think Pacific puts an emphasis on sustainability and community living. I believe that groups within a local community can have an ability to help individuals heal and thrive. I am hoping that by doing the placement I will learn successful ways of engaging with a wider community through a holistic approach.
This project is an amazing opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture and gain new experiences while utilising my skills and sharing my knowledge.
