Theatre Revolts Night. The theatricality and the significance of theater.

A short summary of Our Play

"Meaning" is an original contemporary avant-garde performance art piece that delves into the theme of "theatricality and the significance of theater." Through multi-linear narratives and multimedia stage language, it explores what should be preserved and discarded in theatrical art within the current context. The work integrates traditional theatrical performance with contemporary experimental elements, aiming to break the boundaries between the audience and the stage, thereby creating an immersive viewing experience. The production comprises a cast of 12 actors and a crew of 15 members. The C-Arts Theatre in Edinburgh has entered into a contractual agreement with the production team for a seven-performance run, scheduled from August 11th to 17th.

Who are We?

We are all the international students from East 15, coming from the acting department and directing department.

We are from all over the world! Our diverse cultural backgrounds have sparked a beautiful and inspiring connection.

Our story

We have gathered from across the globe to the United Kingdom for the collective pursuit of theatrical studies.

Given our frequent exchanges on the developmental trends and current status of the theatrical industry within our respective countries. This analysis brings to light the prevalent systemic issues inherent within this industry.

Therefore, we hope to create a play to discuss this issue. This includes the thoughts and significance that drama brings to people, as well as even facing some of the dark sides in the drama industry. Where is contemporary drama headed? Do the rebels have enough strength...

This marks our inaugural endeavor in the United Kingdom to independently produce a theatrical performance, and we are deeply honored to have the privilege of participating in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The Edinburgh Festival is renowned for its exceptional prominence in the theatrical arts. If we are able to successfully secure this funding, it will provide substantial support for us as beginners in the industry.

We hereby extend our sincere gratitude to all the donors for their generous contributions.
