A HALLOWEEN DOUBLE BILL AT THE SPACE THEATRE

Madame, You Have a Guest is a surreal comedy tackling mental health and generational trauma.  

An alcoholic psychic who can make your troubles go away in the wink of an eye. A devoted butler who will never leave her side and an inherently overjoyous daughter who keeps both busy – or in Madame’s case – irritated. Things begin to unravel as Madame’s lover is set to marry a man, the financial system is collapsing, patients start to roam the corridors free as they please and suddenly THE DOOR OPENS.

A Tale From The Ticker is a queer love story that collides the future with the present and the past, centering on modern world loneliness. 

Frederick Flack and Company has tinkered up a new technology – early in its trials, this machine is delicate, and… Mighty, if it falls in the wrong hands. Old cogs squeak, parts fall out, sparks are flying! An invention that is perhaps too ambitious for its own good…

Lovers Treacle and Tart are united by destiny. However, Tick and Tock meet.

And the rest is history… Or future, should we say?

A gothic and steampunk, female-led double bill packed with whimsically bizarre storytelling which fits perfectly into the Halloween season! The best excuse to dress up for a night of theatrical fun…

Who are WE?

Madame, You Have A Guest. & A Tale From The Ticker are two original productions written, directed and devised by members of Novem Ensemble, an emerging theatre company with a respected body of work created by 2025 graduates of the Acting and Contemporary Theatre course at East15. Now curated by Felicia Kaspar, Dominic Bryant, Matty Rudd and Inês Belmonte, these plays undergo their first run at a London theatre - and we need your help to make it happen. 

Our STORY

After participating in this year’s acclaimed DEBUT Festival at East15, both Novem Ensemble productions were honored with The Space Theatre Launchpad Award, providing an eager itch for these productions to develop as part of a magical and unique double bill - five nights of time bending, spellbinding journeys from beyond our realm of reality! We aim to carry the torch that the Contemporary Theatre course very kindly lit in our hearts, with performing exciting work made by a company of eighteen talented and interdisciplinary artists. Madame, You Have A Guest & A Tale From the Ticker are two ambitious, dark and daring, vulnerable and hilarious plays you cannot miss, set in a universe not too far from ours - which need support to create exactly the stories we are trying to tell about the world we live in today - generational trauma that trickles down, the impending doom of the young generations that makes you want to disappear. 

We are emerging artists fresh out of university, therefore, any donation is very much appreciated!

Where will the money go?

Thankfully, due to the Space Theatre’s Launchpad Award, we do not need to cover venue hire! Weekly updates on our progress for this project will be shared not only on the Clickfund platform, but also our social media accounts: @madameyouhaveaguest @atalefromtheticker .

If we raise our minimum amount for both productions, which is £3500, we will be able to cover costs of 

Props and costume: £300

Van: £500

Photographer £500 

Marketing and Programmes: £130

Technician: £500

Rehearsal space: £1260 (We have been offered a few little slots for free here and there across these two months, however, since we have 2 productions to rehearse we will need to rent extra rehearsal space.)

Contingency: £310

If we are fortunate enough to hit our full target of £3500, we will be able to cover

  • pay for our two ensembles and creative teams
  • miscellaneous production costs that may rise up during the rehearsal process

    Our creative team appreciates that we are currently raising money to bring to life not one, but two plays with separate creative teams and ensembles. 

    Any extra funds raised upon hitting our maximum target will be utilized for supporting the future of Madame You Have A Guest. & A Tale From The Ticker - we are not yet finished with Madame’s and Tick and Tock’s stories!
