A short summary of your project
We are seeking donations towards the purchase of additional equipment for Essex Blades Tennis Club. The aim would be to raise enough money to ensure we have a constant supply of new balls for both training and matches, as well as new rackets for beginners and intermediate players.
Who are you?
We are the student Tennis Club at the University of Essex. In total, we have 6 competitive teams competing in the South Eastern BUCS region (3 male and 3 female), in addition to recreational teams in FAST4 and Team Challenge leagues. Since each week involves around 10 hours of training, across all levels of the game, it is crucial that we continue to devise strategies for developing the club, and maintaining high quality equipment.
OUR STORY
We are currently one of the most active sports clubs on campus, and we would like to continue to improve the overall status of the Tennis Club. Our aim is to ensure club sustainability in future years, and in order to achieve the highest level possible, we need the correct equipment. Currently, we use old match balls at training, although to improve our playing standard, we believe it is vital to use new balls each week. Furthermore, we wish for our recreational players to have the best possible equipment, which should hopefully help them develop, and compete for the teams in the future.
Where will the money go?
- Firstly, £100 will go towards new balls for weekly BUCS training on Monday and Tuesday nights
- Secondly, approximately £150 will be spent on new rackets for recreational players that do not own a racket to help them develop
- Any additional money will go towards coaching equipment, e.g. cones and markers.
