Next Stop: The Fringe Circuit--Help Us On The Way!

A short summary of OUR project

Confessions From Another Life is an absurd and contemporary physical theatre performance piece about family breakdowns and breakthroughs. The play invites the audience to come and experience a handful of different tales all based on or inspired by our own origin stories, and the sacrifices we have made to be able to stand in the room with the people present and share this piece.

It also explores briefly the stories of those before us--our parents, grandparents, and our cultural history, and how history repeats itself in that we as humans will always seek to break out of something good in the hopes of becoming someone great.

our story

Here's your chance to capture your We are a group of international artists from East 15 across courses who came together last year to workshop the theme around what led us to this shared space exactly. A common theme was subjects around family; family bonds, missing family, family support (both the lack and presence of it), and the generational history of going against traditional routes to achieve your dreams.

As hinted to above we have already workshopped and done sessions together on our themes of identity, family, and cultural history. We have had several meet-ups brainstorming ideas and concept, staging, and concise story, and have put together a first draft of the story as a whole in the space together. Now we are in the midst of researching venues, fringe festivals, insurance and the more managing-heavy side of making a production come to life. As we prepare for Camden Fringe we will continue to meet and find ways to improve the storytelling of the piece to make it as strong as we believe our vision is!

Where will the money go?

Our minimum target will go to cover most of the costs of the venue hire for a run of our show at The Camden Fringe this year. This is our number one aim, and if we are lucky enough to secure more money, then the rest will go to fund props, costume pieces, flyers and posters for marketing, and getting the right insurances and professional look on the production as best we can.

Below is a rough overview of expenses and their estimates in price from our research:

  • Venue hire: 650-900GBP (main goal)
  • Prop and costume rentals and purchases: 100GBP
  • Application and registration fee for Camden Fringe: 100-150GBP
  • Insurances: 100GBP
  • Flyers and posters: 50-100GBP

Other things we will be looking to get for future productions if available will include:

  • Covering other Fringe application fees
  • Proper technician to run shows
  • Marketing material, perhaps a poster shoot or small teaser.
