A glaring narrative of the female experience in a world full of unrealistic body expectations

OUR PROJECT

Look At Me is a new theatre piece which centres around the glaring narrative of how a lot of women feel suffocated in a world full of unrealistic expectations about their bodies, forcing them to make drastic choices.

Our aim is to tell this story with integrity and authenticity helping people affected be seen and represented.

We’re looking to raise £3,000 to be able to perform our piece at the Lambeth Fringe Festival in the autumn.

Why? - We feel it's an important project to continue to campaign for the body positive movement and raise awareness around mental health challenges caused by body image pressures.

WHO ARE WE?

Blue Chrysalis Productions are three female London-based performers (Catarina Grangeon, Rebecca Bidwell, Christina Leitner) whose aim it is to bring truthful and empowering theatre to life that will break boundaries and change social perceptions.

Our theatre company was born on the MA Acting course at East 15 Acting School during our theatre making module.

OUR STORY

As women ourselves we feel we have grown up and lived through many social constrictions and continue to experience how much impact it can have on our mental health and on a lot of other people's - not just women.

We already know from feedback and conversations that this is a very important topic for many and your money will help us utilise theatre to carve a more positive impact on our society and encourage a shift in perspective.

WHERE WILL THE MONEY GO?

If we hit our minimum target, we will spend the funding on:

  • Lighting technician
  • Festival application fee
  • Advertising/marketing
  • Insurance

If we hit our full target, the money raised will go to:

  • Lighting technician
  • Rent for rehearsal space
  • Festival application fee
  • Advertising & marketing
  • Props & costume
  • Travel & accommodation
  • Insurance

If we raise extra funds beyond our full target, we would like to use the money to:

  • Pay the team

This is a breakdown of costs for our full target budget:

  • Travel (for 3 weeks of rehearsal + show day): £867
  • Accommodation & food (for rehearsal and performance): £680
  • Festival application: £80
  • Advertising/marketing: £100
  • Props & costumes: £350
  • Rent for rehearsal space (1 week): £500
  • Lighting & sound (for 1 performance): £250
  • PL Insurance: £100

We will give weekly updates on progress when we are running our project.
