Raise £4,700 to let 'The Nightingale' sing at the Colombo International Theatre Festival!

Project Summary

We're raising £4,700 to support our team from East 15 Acting School as we bring "The Nightingale" to the stage at the Colombo International Theatre Festival in Sri Lanka. This unique monodrama blends traditional Chinese arts with modern theatre, exploring the essence of art and the true meaning of freedom.

Who We Are

We are a team of performers and creators from East 15 Acting School. Our team includes writers, directors, producers, and actors, as well as artistic consultants, a physical movement director, set and lighting designers, a traditional opera director, and a photographer and videographer. We are passionate about theatre and committed to attracting audiences with innovative performances.

The Story of the nightingale

"The Nightingale" explores the pursuit of power, wealth, and beauty, and the eventual realization of freedom and true beauty. It combines the traditional Chinese story "The Nightingale" with existential themes, delving into deeper philosophical questions. Our innovation lies in the fusion of Chinese crosstalk, guzheng music, and monodrama to create a unique theatrical form. We are keen on creating theatre that resonates across cultures. "The Nightingale" is our tool for exploring these themes and sharing them with international audiences, which is very important to us as it represents our commitment to artistic innovation and promoting global understanding through performance.
