A stable home - a broad interpretation of true events
We are raising £300 to help bring our new play 'A Stable Home' to The Space Theatre! We are performing at The Space from the 7th-11th of October. 'A Stable Home' is a play based on true events about rural communities and mental wellbeing
meet the team
the creative team behind 'A Stable Home' consists of Bud Potter, the writer and Nia Brooks, the director. Both Bud and Nia are recent graduates of East15's Acting and Contemporary Theatre course and are a part of 'Novem Ensemble' a new theatre company.
our story
'A Stable Home' is based on true stories from Bud and their family's lives living on a livestock farm during the 2008 recession. These experiences have been re-contextualized into a piece that follows the brutal experiences in rural communities. We describe the show as a lesbian rom-com suffocated in a puppet-clad psychological thriller.
Both Bud and Nia grew up on livestock farms, and have struggled to find theatre that normalizes queer voices in rural areas, stories that prioritize women's voices in rural areas and have never seen theatre that has been able to bring the reality of these areas to the stage.
We believe this is an important show because it shares an untold story that speaks to a huge community of those who recognize these rural areas.
Where will the money go?
All of the money we raise will go towards:
- Building set (£100)
- Making puppets (£70)
- Making props (£30)
- Sourcing costumes (£50)
- And paying our actors!
