Hi! We are a new theatre company made up of two 3rd year world performance students and we’re raising money to help bring our first show 'IRIS' to the stage.
Iris is a new original theatre piece set to live music that will be performed at the Golden Goose Theatre in London on July 1st and 2nd. The piece is based around real stories and follows the story of Iris – an elderly woman with dementia on the final night of her life. She experiences a ‘life review’ and fragments of memories from across her life begin to resurface around her through music, ensemble movement and storytelling.
This project is important to us because we want to create theatre that is both artistically engaging and socially meaningful. Its important to us to awareness of the impact dementia can have, not only for the person living with it, but also for the people around them. At the same time, we do not want to tell this story in a way that is purely bleak. We want to humanise people living with dementia and push back against the way they are so often reduced to their illness, especially in the media. People with dementia are still whole people, with full lives, relationships, memories and identities, and it is very important to us to reinforce this message with our show.
Where will the money go?
We will primarily use the money to cover set and costume costs, transport costs for the cast and team, venue hire costs and marketing costs.
If we were to raise the full £1000, we will use it as follows:
- £400 will fully cover the hire for the Golden Goose Theatre
- £300 will help cover transport costs for our cast and crew travelling to and from the theatre.
- £50 will cover set and instrument transportation
- £150 will go towards costume costs
- £50 will go towards set costs
- £50 will go towards programme, poster and flyer costs along with any other marketing costs
Every donation will go directly towards making IRIS happen.
If you're unable to donate, sharing this page really helps too. The more people who hear about IRIS, the better chance we have of making it happen to its full potential and, of course, if you are able to donate, we would be so grateful. Every donation, no matter the size, helps us bring IRIS to life.
Thank you for supporting IRIS.
Mary and Keira :)
