'Belamour' at the Camden Fringe

How Fast can a mermaid run?

'Belamour' is a new comi-tragic one-man show, which follows the journey of a builder, who's desperately searching for answers after the death of his mother and the birth of multiple sclerosis on his body. But it is much more than that...

Based on a true story, the show explores the conflict created between Belamour's loyalty for his family and his love for an outsider.

This explosive, new, multilingual show unfolds like a piece of urban poetry, uncompromising, funny, celebrating the human spirit with a strong narrative arc, which will keep surprising the audience from the beginning till the end.

the team

Y-Axis Theatre is an emerging theatre company with three new shows which are to be produced this year. It is founded by French-Algerian, Greek and Bulgarian actors Ewens Abid, Nina Frantzeskaki and Nia Vasileva. All members of the company are graduates from the BA Acting (International) Course at East 15 Acting School. For more info visit our website

'Belamour' is written and performed by Ewens Abid, and directed by Zois Pigadas, ('Moormaid', Arcola Theatre; Top Ten Off-West End Production of 2018 by Theatre Weekly).

at the heart of Belamour

'Belamour' explores the themes of cultural belonging, love, death, suicide, disease, belief in a higher power, rebirth, self-discovery, happiness and freedom.

Dark night sky full of bright stars was used as the main image when writing the story. Light in the darkness. Comedy clashing with tragedy. A black canvas with a trail of white dots.

Where will your money go?

To make this show possible we need to reach our minimum target of £605. If we do this, we'll manage to invest in the following:

  • £440 venue hire
  • £165 Camden Fringe registration

If we hit our maximum target of £1465, we'll manage to invest in the following:

  • £150 marketing
  • £200 costume
  • £200 props
  • £210 house technician
  • £100 travel cost

As a nonprofit production we won't benefit anything from the show so we need your help!

Due to the nature of the project, we are only able offer a massive THANK YOU and a BIG SHOUT-OUT across our social media as a reward for your donations. We also warmly invite you all to come and see 'Belamour'discover his story and help us raise awareness.
