Essex’s Got Talent

We are wanting to put on a charity talent show in aid of CARA and Young Minds called Essex Got Talent on the 30th of April! We want to showcase the amazing talents of our students as they compete to win the grand prize whilst fundraising money for charity in a fun and entertaining event.

Who are We?

We are a student led team working together again after the success of the Robin Cancer Trust Showcase to make Essex Got Talent happen. Here’s the team we have our organisers of the event Nifemi Wilson-Adu and Kieran Phillips, Briony is looking at accessibility for the event and making appropriate arrangements for cast and visitors to make the show inclusive of all, Dakshita, Adrian and Teo are helping gather acts and promote participation across all 4 of our activities wings to ensure that every student gets the opportunity to take part, Ashahar is working to promote the event on our Southend campus including getting people to audition for the show and running a trip from Southend to see the show. Louis is head of promotion helping to create material to promote the show and inviting dignitaries to attend. Summer, Chris and Kobbie are helping with the logistics of the projects.

Our story

We want to put on this showcase not only as a way to raise money for 2 amazing charities but also to allow acts to perform who may not otherwise get the opportunity to do so. We will be raising money through the show for both CARA and Young Minds which is close to the hearts of our team. Young minds works tirelessly to support children and young people struggling with mental health whilst CARA work hard to take action against rape and sexual assault in Essex.

Where will your money go?

We are hoping to raise our target of £750 and that will go towards: 

• £540 for hiring in technical equipment for the show
• £100 for hiring a alumni lighting designer and stage manager from the industry to tech for the show
• £110 will go towards props and set to bring each act to life

If only £300 is raised then we will still be able to put on the show just with basic level tech providing lighting and sound.

Any additional raised will go towards making the best show possible and rewarding the acts tech team/organizers for their hard work.

• £30 - You will receive a shout out from our hosts during the show
• £50 - You will get a soft drink and chocolate bar on arrival + all of the above
• £100 - You will receive 2 free tickets to the show on April 30th + all of the above
