St Helena Hospice in Colchester cares for and supports terminally ill people and their families and carers in the North Essex area at a cost of almost £9 million per year most of which is raised through donations and by fundraisers.
Over 4 days in September 2017 I will be cycling the 300 miles (480 km) from London to Paris. The aim, apart from the physical and mental challenge, is to raise as much money as possible for St Helena Hospice. However, for each cyclist, St Helena Hospice has to pay out £850 for the costs incurred to put on the bike ride. This is where your help is needed. By crowdfunding the costs of my ride, I can make sure all donations made to the cause can go directly to the Hospice and not on costs. Saving them as much money as possible, means they can use funds to maintain provision of their services for those who need it.
WHO AM I?
My name is Roy Clark and I am both an alumnus and an employee of the University of Essex.
In the past, my family and I have benefitted from the service offered at no cost to ourselves by St Helena Hospice. They were there to help us through a very difficult period in our lives following a sudden bereavement. I want to give something back so that the Hospice can continue to provide their services free of charge to others who need it.
